I'm typically a "glass half full" kind of guy, but anyone that has any insight into the Google initiative has to realize that Greensboro's efforts to date have been less than strategic, and that's putting it nicely. Too many people going for a land grab which is fragmenting the effort. No plan, cohesion, etc. Lots of people doing some decent things, just not together. We're way behind right now and there's just not much time to catch up.

And seriously, Wordpress?

Ned,

I completely agree. Glad you mentioned RFMD, I work for them. Good to know we are still a respected force within the community. I do think we have something to offer in terms of population density and the fact that we have been oppressed by TWC for so long. I don't think we offer any more than "Google" Kansas but hey I applaud them for trying... I chuckled quite hard at your Betty Crocker scenario and find it sad that if we where trying to lure Betty Crocker we not only tried to do it with cookies but also with cookies from a rival brand :) IE. Wordpress VS Blogspot.

Thanks for reading

I'm completely nonplussed by the efforts at any level, frankly. We don't have the techy base to draw Google, even with RFMD locally and a good sized industrial base, a segment that is poised to embrace internet technologies more fully. Only the FedEx hub is potent imo. And now this RLF website - a website? That's what we're using to lure Google? An index of millions of websites and we're trying to get them to notice ours?

Innovation FAIL. A website? Really? That's like trying to lure Betty Crocker with a plate of cookies.
