#GoogleGSO
I have been chatting up the #GoogleGSO thread this morning after hearing the JoshInTheBox Google Song on 1075KZL this morning.
Play it here:
It seams like there is a lot of discomfort around how the city of Greensboro is handling the marketing campaign to try and lure Google into our town. First they abandon their 1,400 follower twitter account in order to create a new branded one instead of simply using a hash-tag, and then they pay $10,000 for RLF to build a wordpress site, which is Google’s competitor for blogspot. when there already where good standing grass roots movements like http://www.google4gso.com/, and the twitter hashtag #GoogleGSO on twitter.
I hope we get it, it would mean a lot to our community but if Greensboro as a city is going to make these kind of basic mistakes on a marketing campaign we made need to look for better business leaders to help us next election season.
One thing I will give them credit for is the google crate… that is awesome

Twitter has Denial of Service Attack

I was humming along nicely this morning, knee deep in an SQL stored procedure when Frank Sandoval IM’ed me and informed me that both Twitter and Facebook was down. I quickly took a look at both sites to confirm and sure enough he was correct. My instant reaction was that it was probably something like the Twitter Takeover that happened a few days ago on FaceBook. It turns out that the problem was much more sinister than that. Twitter reported on their blog that they where actually combating a denial of service attack. For those of you that don’t know what a denial of service attack is. It is when an attacker floods a url with so much information that the url can no longer recieve normal request.
I would say that Twitter will likeley have this resolved soon. so by the time you get to read this it will probably be safe to hit the tweet this button at the bottom of the post

UPDATE:
Looks like twitter came online about 12:40EST but then went back down shortly thereafter. I hope they can combat the attacker.
UPDATE#2: This story made CNN! Twitter is back online but dog slow.
IPhone OS 3.0 First Look
Well, I took the plunge and downloaded OS 3.0 for my IPhone and I have to say that I am impressed… Sideways email, Search in Email, and push notifications are awesome. I do find however, that a large number of programs simply crash with 3.0 and I have updated all of them from the app store. I was also disappointed to find that voice recognition was a feature of the 3GS and not the software
I give it a thumbs up but also hope that the hackers crack it soon so I can get cycorder back
