Similac Recall No Help

Sep 23, 2010   //   by David Bates   //   All Post, Life Stories, News, Thoughts On  //  No Comments

Update: According to CafeMom.com The Formula that comes in a tub is for sure recalled… you have to keep trying their number to find out about the cans.

Abbott the company responsible for the Similac brand of baby formula (which my baby is on) has issued a massive recall today. The recall is because they somehow ground up insect parts in with the formula. How gross. But that is not all they issued a website in the statement where parents could check to see if their formula is contaminated: Check your formula but as I am writing this the website is down. Don’t try calling the number either (800) 986-8850. as it is busy. I hope it all clears up soon so that you can check your lot numbers.

Just two years ago Abbott along with several other companies where in the headlines for having melamine in the formula and several babies died from it. Now I know that Abbott is one of the largest manufacturers of baby formula but c’mon. This is our babies.

Please continue to try and get through to either the link above or the phone number and until you do do not use the formula.

Clay Shoot at Floyd County Coon hunters Lodge. Includes a Steel Cannon

Sep 19, 2010   //   by David Bates   //   All Post, Explosions, Funny Things, Hacking, Life Stories  //  1 Comment

George Dawson Shooting the Single Stand
We have been remodeling out laundry room for that past couple of weeks and wanted to get away this weekend so we came up to visit Donna and George in Floyd.
George had invited me to a clay shoot today and I must say that I am glad that he did. I am pyrotechnic at heart (don’t believe me?) so anytime I have a change to shoot or blow something up I am happy.

This was my first time clay shooting so I was kinda nervous especially since my father-in-law was letting me borrow is brand new mossberg. In fact I think I was more nervious about breaking something on his gun than anything else. We’ll anyway I did well for a beginner I got 6 out of 25. Including a couple off a wobble platform. If anything else I got to see a lot of nice people and eat some good hotdogs. But of course that is not all. I got to fire not only a .12 gauge but a .10 gauge and a steel cannon. Watch the video below.

And now that you have seen someone else light it here is me running away from it after I lit it :)
Me Running From Cannon

As I said great day, great food, and great fellowship.
