Pandora – The Best in Internet Radio

Oct 29, 2007   //   by David Bates   //   Uncategorized  //  No Comments

About two years ago I was searching for an internet based radio station that would play my favorite music without commercials. I searched and searched and was not able to find what I was looking for as my taste in music would change and I cannot stand to listen to the same type of music for more than three songs. Pandorachanged all of that, I was able to create my own station based on my parameters and was even able to fine tune that station into exactly what I wanted.

If you have never tried Pandora I would highly recommend trying it out, It’s Free!

The College Dream – Debt

Oct 23, 2007   //   by David Bates   //   College  //  1 Comment

Yesterday I wen’t to class just like any normal day and before I sat down the teacher told me that Financial Aid needed to see me before I could enter class. Now, most of the time this trip to financial aid is to sign paper’s where they forgot to dot an I or cross a T but this time it was to hit me up for another $11,000.00USD. Geez I said; you just got 11 grand from me less than 6 months ago. This would all be fine if I would have actually learned something substatial since April but I have found myself on more than one occasion correcting the teacher and for the last three terms have just been bored out of my skull.

Now, I am not blasting my school I think it is great with all of the hands-on training they give and all of the bonuses it just seams that I have paid a lot of money and have not recieved an education. In my schools defense, I do have 10+ yrs of experiance in the field that I am going to school for and have been doing High-Level programming for the past 3 yrs. So I am not there average gardener turned computer wiz.

What is your take?
Should there be a further accelorated program in college that would allow people like me to reach a higher level faster?

No More Water?

Oct 18, 2007   //   by David Bates   //   Life Stories  //  2 Comments

I live right on the outskirts of Greensboro NC and evidently we are right in the middle of one of the worst droughts ever recorded in our area. I haven?t been to worried about all of hoopla surround the drought until just a few days ago when my wife called me at school and said that there was no water at the house. Even then I thought that it was our neighbors forgetting to pay the electric bill; which has happen twice before. It wasn’t until my Landlord called me and said that he had checked out all the electrical components going to the well that I began to worry.

Well, now I am worried, worried that I now might actually be out of water (*%$#?) and that we may have to move. Let me say before I move on to that my landlord is great and that this entry is in no way intended to reflect poorly on him. My landlord has said that he has hired some “well people” to come and check out the pump as he did not have the equipment to do so and that he should know something by the end of the week. So for the time-being my wife is in VA and I have to stay with my Mom who is now uber-conscious of the drought.

Anyway whish me luck with it and all else is well.

RFMD – New Job

Oct 2, 2007   //   by David Bates   //   Uncategorized  //  1 Comment

As you all know from previous post I have had a lot of new recently. New Baby, New Job, New classes in school; a lot of new. I believe that I am finally settling in and appreaciating all that God has granted me this year. I mean everything has just fallen into place and it couldn’t be an easier transition.

As for my new Job, I love the enviroment I work in now the building has a caffeteria, outside sitting, walking trails, and a wieght room. My new boss is awsome and my coworkers are friendly. And as far as my task they are easy and quick. I am on my feet more now which is a blessing as it is hard to loose wieght driving a desk all day, and I am very happy at this point in my life. Me and the wife are starting to think about buying a house (which is not an easy task) and even planning our second child.

Well I believe that sums it up; I am happy, the baby is well (and getting Fat), and everything seems to be getting better.
Thank you all for reading and there will be more to come.
